Union Minister of State for Women and Child Development Savitri Thakur Pays Courtesy Visit to CM Sai

159 Anganwadi Centres in Naxal-Affected Areas, ₹10,431 Crore Direct Transfers to 7 Million Women – A New Milestone in Empowerment

Raipur 29 June 2025/Union Minister of State for Women and Child Development Mrs. Savitri Thakur paid a courtesy visit to Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai today at the Chief Minister’s residence in Raipur. During the meeting, Chief Minister Shri Sai held detailed discussions with Mrs. Thakur on various schemes being implemented in the state for the welfare of women and children.

Chief Minister Shri Sai stated that under the government’s commitment to the holistic development of Chhattisgarh, special focus is being placed on empowering women and children. He informed that in the Naxal-affected districts of Bijapur, Sukma, Kanker, Dantewada, and Narayanpur, the Department of Women and Child Development is successfully operating 159 Anganwadi centres under the Niyad Nellanar Yojana. This initiative has been playing a pivotal role in delivering government schemes directly to the last mile in these remote regions.

Chief Minister Shri Sai further shared that under the Mahtari Vandan Yojana, more than 7 million women have received direct benefit transfers amounting to ₹10,431.30 crore into their bank accounts between March 2024 and June 2025. This has laid a strong foundation for strengthening the economic self-reliance of women across the state.

On the occasion, Chief Minister Shri Sai presented a traditional shawl and shreephal to Union Minister Mrs. Savitri Thakur as a mark of respect.

State Minister for Women and Child Development Mrs. Laxmi Rajwade and Chairperson of the State Commission for Protection of Child Rights Dr. Varnika Sharma were also present during the meeting.
