Historic Increase in Paddy Procurement Reflects Double Engine Government’s Commitment to Farmers – CM Vishnu Deo Sai

It is a day of immense joy and pride for the farmers of Chhattisgarh. The Central Government has granted historic approval to increase the estimated paddy procurement target for the Kharif Marketing Season (KMS) 2024–25 from 70 lakh metric tonnes to 78 lakh metric tonnes. This decision gives due recognition to the hard work of lakhs of the state’s food providers and will provide new direction to their economic prosperity.

Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai has expressed his deep gratitude to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Union Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Shri Pralhad Joshi for this extraordinary decision. He stated that this approval is a living testament to the “Double Engine” government’s unwavering commitment to farmers’ welfare, where the interest of the farmers is the highest priority.

Posting on social media platform ‘X’, Chief Minister Shri Sai said that the Central Government’s approval for the procurement of an additional 8 lakh metric tonnes of paddy is a step that acknowledges the tireless efforts of our farmers. He added that this move will not only enhance farmers’ incomes but also strengthen the agricultural economy of Chhattisgarh.

He further stated that the state government is continuously working in the interest of farmers and is closely coordinating with the Central Government to ensure every possible support for them. A solid strategy is being formulated to ensure fair prices, timely payments, and a seamless procurement process for the state’s paddy-producing farmers. The increase in the procurement limit is a confidence-boosting move for the farmers of the state. It reflects the Centre’s belief in the hard work and productive capacity of our farmers.

Chief Minister Shri Sai said that the Chhattisgarh Government is fully prepared to keep the procurement process transparent and well-organised. The government is constantly implementing new schemes and measures for the prosperity of the state’s food producers.

He further remarked that bringing happiness and dignity to the lives of farmers remains the topmost priority of his government. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the food providers of Chhattisgarh will become a symbol of self-reliance and progress.
