Chhattisgarh Farmers to Benefit from Timely Execution of Long-Pending Water Projects
Raipur, August 6, 2025: Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai today chaired a comprehensive review meeting at the Mahanadi Bhavan, Mantralaya, to assess progress on various pending projects of the Water Resources Department. He instructed officials to adopt a concrete strategy to accelerate construction work and ensure rapid progress in execution.
CM Sai reviewed in detail the status of ongoing irrigation projects across the state. He specifically emphasized that all incomplete water projects, especially those pending since before 2015, must be completed on a priority basis.
Chief Minister Shri Sai stated that Chhattisgarh is a state of farmers, and the delay in water projects directly affects irrigation capacity, thereby depriving farmers of the full benefits of the schemes. He further added that timely completion of these pending irrigation projects would increase the state’s irrigated area and ensure adequate water availability to farmers.
CM Sai further underlined that improved irrigation infrastructure would significantly boost agricultural output, thereby leading to higher income for farmers and improved standards of living. He firmly stated that early completion of these projects is essential to ensure that farmers reap the intended benefits.
During the meeting, Water Resources Secretary Rajesh Sukumar Toppo presented a detailed PowerPoint presentation on various irrigation projects being implemented across the state. He also updated the attendees on the current status of pending projects.
Present at the meeting were Water Resources Minister Kedar Kashyap, Chief Minister’s Principal Secretary Subodh Kumar Singh, Chief Minister’s Secretaries P. Dayanand and Rahul Bhagat, Joint Secretary Dr. Ravi Mittal, Chief Engineer of the Water Resources Department Indrajeet Uike, along with other senior departmental officials.
