India needs to lead in supply chain management and skill development: Sourav Ganguly

New Delhi, August 7, 2025: The International Procurement and Supply Chain Conference (IPSC) 2025, held in New Delhi, marked a milestone moment for India’s logistics and procurement sector.  IPSC, a non-profit initiative jointly hosted by ASSOCHAM, India’s apex industry chamber, and Blue Ocean Corporation.

Adding star power and strategic insight to the event was former Indian cricket captain and Board Member of Blue Ocean Corporation, Sourav Ganguly, who drew compelling parallels between high-performance sports and corporate leadership. “Whether on the field or in the boardroom, success lies in foresight, resilience, and teamwork. India has the potential to lead globally in this domain, and the journey begins with empowering our youth,” he said.

The International Procurement and Supply Chain Conference, now in its second India edition, served as a vibrant platform for critical dialogue around the evolving contours of procurement, logistics, and supply chain management. From AI-powered procurement to sustainable logistics, the day-long summit hosted expert panels, keynotes, and leadership addresses that took a call on both challenges and innovations reshaping the global supply ecosystem.

Mr. John Ellis, Group COO, Blue Ocean Corporation, reflected on the dynamic partnership between the UK and India. “The UK provides strategy, India delivers impact. Everywhere here I see leaders, innovators, reformers, those who don’t wait for change but become part of the change.”

Mr. Vinod Pandey, Chairperson, ASSOCHAM Manufacturing & Capital Goods Council, Director – Government and External Affairs, BMW Group India said, “India’s logistics and supply chain sector is undergoing a seismic shift—from fragmented to integrated, from cost-driven to value-driven. To truly accelerate growth, procurement must become strategic, sustainable, and tech-enabled, empowering India to compete confidently on the global stage.”

“These collaborations are national imperatives,” said Dr. Sathya Menon, Group CEO of Blue Ocean Corporation. “We are working hand in hand with India’s top institutions to ensure that global standards of supply chain education are not limited to the boardroom but begin in the classroom,” he added.

Efficient procurement and supply chain systems are at the heart of India’s economic ambitions, stated Mr. Anand Mimani, Co-Chairman, Logistics and Warehousing Council, ASSOCHAM CEO, Greenline Mobility Solutions. As we align with the vision of ‘Viksit Bharat’, it is time to reimagine supply networks as enablers of resilience, innovation, and equitable access across industries.
