CM Vishnu Dev Sai washes feet of Swachhata Didi in rare honour

Raipur : When Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai and Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao washed the feet of Swachhata Didis at Bilaspur’s Bahatarai Stadium on 12th August. the honoured sanitation workers were deeply moved and overcome with emotion. Thousands of people witnessed this touching and inspirational moment.

The Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister honoured the Swachhata Didis from urban bodies that excelled in the Swachh Survekshan 2024-25 in a unique manner. The Swachhata Didis who were felicitated expressed heartfelt gratitude to Chief Minister Sai and Deputy Chief Minister Sao for this proud moment in their lives.

After felicitating them, Chief Minister Sai said that Swachhata Didis and Swachhata Commandos play an important role in creating a clean and healthy environment. He added that their work is not limited to cleaning alone but is part of a wider social transformation campaign, and their efforts are commendable. He said this initiative would increase respect and awareness in society towards sanitation work.

On stage, Vishrampur’s Swachhata Didi Punita Bai and Kumhari’s Ranu Devangan said that society often views sanitation work with disdain, but being honoured by the Chief Minister through the washing of their feet was a matter of great pride for them. “This honour is a true reward for our hard work, dedication, and commitment. With the cooperation of public representatives and citizens, our work has gained recognition, and our urban bodies have secured excellent positions in the survey,” they said.

Puja Rathore from Bilha and Wasu Raj from Dantewada shared that they have been associated with this work for the past eight years, but today was the first time they had experienced such a proud moment in their lives. Swachhata Didis Sharda Soni and Kiran Singh also expressed their happiness in the same way and conveyed their heartfelt gratitude to Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai and Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao.
